Obituary Angela Perez, 87, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. Imagine a non English speaking, uneducated but well read "gangster" of a good-looking woman, fearless when necessary and afraid of everything at the same time! A single mom of six girls on a mission in the 'new world' from "the old school" Cuba, who, while ever-clinging to the past, could tell your future in a cigar. A poet, a song writer, great storyteller with a singular sense of humor, & a hysterically funny commediennes sense of a quick punchline-and what an amazing laugh! Imagine this woman, who asking for nothing for herself, gave her life to her children & grandchildren. Imagine a woman who, having been dealt the worst a parent can imagine, was BRILLIANT at grinning and bearing all her burdens, NEVER indulging in self-pity, who somehow managed to make this hard world seem easy to navigate. With the eye of a tiger, she could SENSE if something was wrong, and was QUICK to respond to any cry for help, no questions asked! A woman who, despite suffering from dementia, refused to be defeated. THAT was our mother-What a woman! What a life! What a legacy!! What a void she leaves behind in a world with too many celebrities, and two few real shining stars!! Angela Perez-Santamarina "La Tremendisima' 12/9/1929-2/8/2018. She leaves behind two siblings, Aracelys Perez (Cuba) and Miguel ngel "Miguelito" Perez, daughters Adriana Madan, Alina Lawrence, Aleida Madan, Angelina Chrystaline, Andrea Triana+(deceased 12/30/1994), and Barbara Triana. Grandchildren Jos Colon and Marcia Colon Tisdale, Robert Lawrence and Craig Lawrence, Melanie Canevaro, Mark Chrystaline and Matthew Madan, and Rebeca Triana. Seven great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, and admirerers too numerous to mention.
