Obituary Barbara Willis Springle, 88, of Beaufort, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at her home. Barbara Louise Willis Springle was born on November 17, 1932 to the late Laura Davis Willis and Ashton Willis of Morehead City. Barbara grew up and lived in the area affectionately referred to as the "Promised Land" along with her late siblings Walter Hubert Willis, Ashton Willis Jr, William "Snookum" Willis, Horace Willis, and Evelyn Willis. After graduating from Morehead High School, Barbara worked with Carolina Telephone. She met and married Leslie Davis (LD) Springle, Jr in 1957. Barbara and LD had three children together, 10 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. They lived on the Springle Farm outside of Beaufort until his death November 2, 2020. Barbara was known as a soft spoken, kind and gentle woman, who spoke ill of no one, and for whom Serving the Lord and taking care of her husband and family was her life. Upon stepping in her home, one would often hear Barbara humming or singing one of her favorite hymns, ``I Come to the Garden Alone", or "Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling". She was very involved in teaching childrens Sunday School classes, choir, VBS, and was very supportive of and active in Home and Foreign Missions in Calvary Baptist Church, Beaufort. She, along with her late husband LD went on numerous mission trips including Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, and to New York City after 9/11. Barbara was also very involved in her Childrens classrooms, scout troops, band events, and served as team mom for the numerous ball teams her children were on, often in the role of transportation provider to countless practices, games and tournaments. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort with Pastor David Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday at Bridgeway Church of Beaufort. She is survived by her son, Bill Springle of Beaufort; son, Ashton Springle and wife, Debbie of Beaufort; daughter, Susan Springle Earp and husband, Jae of Beaufort; nine grandsons, Benjamin Springle and wife, Kelly of Beaufort; Aaron Springle of Havelock ; Ethan Springle of Beaufort; Noah Springle of Newport; Patrick Springle of Newport; Davis Springle and wife, Samantha of Beaufort; Ryan Springle and wife, Kristen of Beaufort; Stephen Earp and wife, Dakota of Beaufort; Daniel Earp and wife, Samantha of Beaufort; granddaughter, Kimberly Earp of Beaufort; six great grandchildren, Wyatt Springle of Beaufort; Nathan Springle of Morehead City; Camden Springle of Beaufort; Julia Renae Earp of Beaufort; Carson Springle of Havelock; Haven Springle of Beaufort, and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ashton and Laura Willis; her husband of 63 years LD Springle; four brothers and her sister.
