Obituary Berkley Thomas Piner, Jr. 75 of Beaufort passed away on November 24th, 2018 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House surrounded by family. Berkley was born on May 31, 1942 to Berkley and Veldie Piner. He attended Beaufort High School and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He and his wife Nancy operated The Spot Grill from 1978 to 2005 and continue to oversee its operation as owners. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy Nelson Piner. Together they had three daughters, Nancy Paige Piner Smith (Morgan), Ashley Leigh Piner Crossland (Jason), and Susan Maria Piner Hollingsworth (Brandon). Berkley was the proud grandfather of Brittany Smith, Blaine Smith, Jordan Simpson, Joseph Simpson, Noah Richardson and Aiden Richardson. He is also survived by his sisters Phyllis Gray, Shirley Pittman (Murray), Julia Stanley (Odell), and Patty Tizen (Danny) along with many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother in law, Don Gray. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 30th at 2pm at The Bridgeway Church in Beaufort with Jeffrey Sadler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
