Betty S. Lou Kelbaugh

August 31, 1940 — March 10, 2020

Obituary Betty S. Kelbaugh, 79, of Morehead City, formerly of Raleigh, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Carteret Health Care. Betty was a member of Marys Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest before moving to Morehead City where she became a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, especially at Kerr Lake, and was known to show pictures of her "bigger than you" fish. She had a great love of the beach, and this love prompted her move to the Crystal Coast. The family will hold a celebration of life at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Mary's Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest with Pastors Al Thomas and Jerry Linebarger officiating. She is survived by her daughter, LouAnn K. Wilkins of Morehead City; grandson, Chad Hardison and his wife Julie of Knightdale; great granddaughter, Breana Hardison; brother, Hugh Smith and his wife Ethel of Apex; sisters, Judy Kimbrough of Stem; Jean S. Poe and her husband Doug of Apex; step-grandchildren, Bradley, Jonathan and Brian; great grandson, Broughton; and a host of extended family. And a special thanks to her sister-in-law, Martha Kelbaugh, for all of her invaluable help during these very difficult and stressful days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud "Lawrence" Kelbaugh; parents, Brodie and Lela Smith; and brother, Donald Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Bettys name can be given to a charity of your choice.
