Carl Reels

December 26, 1954 — February 21, 2024

Carl Reels, 69, of Holly Springs, passed away on Wednesday February 21, 2024, at Rex UNC Heart and Vascular Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Reels Chapel. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Carl was born on December 26, 1954, to Classie Reels in Merrimon, NC.

In the late 1950's Classie moved her family to Philadelphia where she married Levy Curley. That is where Carl grew up. Carl graduated from Murrell Dobbins Area Vocational Technical High School in 1972. After high school Carl worked for John Wanamaker Dept. store. A job he loved with his best friend Raymond Binns. A few years later he worked at the Phila. Gas Co. After several years Carl decided that he needed a change and moved to Fayetteville, NC with his brother Lee Charles Reels Sr.

A few years after that he met his life partner Thurlene Ingram whom he stayed with until his passing in Holly Springs, NC.

Carl retired from Walmart as a manager in 2015. Carl's close friends in Holly Springs affectionately called him King because his personality was above all others. Carl was one of those people who was happy and just enjoyed life. He was sweet and kind and he would help you in any way that he could. He loved watching sports and hanging with his friends and he really loved his family. Many may not know this, but Carl had an uncanny ability to take things apart and put them back together. Like clocks and radios.

When he put them back together all the pieces may not have gone back but they always worked. Go figure.

Carl leaves to cherish his life and legacy his mother, Classie Theresa Curley; his life partner, Thurlene Ingram; brothers, Freid Lee Reels, Bernard Reels (Barbara), Jonnie Curley, Darrye Curley; sister, Sharon Gaymon; his favorite aunt, Gertrude Reels; nieces, Sabrina Herrington, Debra Langford, Serita Reels; nephews, Corey Reels, Lee Charles Reels, Jr., Dante McLean; goddaughter, Shakina Bradley; and a host of other family and friends. Too many to count.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Lee Charles Reels Sr.

The family of Carl Reels would like to Thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, cards, and every act of kindness shown to us.
