Before passing at Cherry Point Bay Rehabilitation, he lived almost his entire life in the community of Otway. He was the beloved son of the late Lionel and Robena Gillikin.

Cecil began his career at the shipyard in Morehead City, where he developed his skills as a welder. A lifelong enthusiast of Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Cecil’s passion for riding shaped much of his life. He achieved the extraordinary milestone of riding to all 48 contiguous states and Canada. Following his retirement, he embarked on a two-month journey across North America, visiting iconic destinations such as Sturgis, the Pacific Coast, and Nova Scotia. Even into his 80s, Cecil continued to ride with enthusiasm, completing a memorable trip to Florida with his sons at age 84. His extensive knowledge of Harley-Davidson motorcycles earned him admiration from many.
