Clarence 'Butch' Tharp

Obituary Clarence "Butch" Tharp, 80, of Beaufort, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at his home. Butch was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his bachelors degree from Miami University in Ohio. He later joined the United States Navy and served as a Lieutenant during Vietnam from 1962-1966. He worked on Wall Street from 1973-2002. Butch could light up a room with his smile, played piano beautifully, and always had funny jokes and stories to tell anyone he met. One of his favorite hobbies was golfing. He touched many lives and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife, Lee Ann of Beaufort; daughter Holly Tharp (partner Craig Howson) of Australia; son Scott Tharp (wife Yasmin-Amira) of New Hampshire; stepdaughter Jessica Stephens (husband Randall) of Bettie; stepdaughter Sarah Thrasher of Georgia; brother Mike Tharp (wife Emmy and son Mike, Jr.) of Florida; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Julia Tharp, and sisters Medeba and Carolyn. Condolences and life tributes may be sent to the family at www.noefs.net.
