Clem Dudley Reels

March 5, 1941 — September 29, 2019

Obituary Clem Dudley Reels, son of the late James and Lugenia Reels was born on March 5, 1941 in Merrimon, NC. He stepped out of time and entered into eternity surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 29, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Reels Chapel with Pastor Christina Grady officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Clem, affectionately known as "Clem", "Uncle Dull", or "Clem Dudley", was a man of great strength and humility. Clem heard the call of Christ, answered and served faithfully as a member of Reels Chapel AME Zion Church under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Christina Grady. Clem attended every Sunday until his health began to decline. He loved people and most of all he loved God. Clem loved gospel music, reading his bible and writing his "to God letters". He loved beating the boys in checkers and drinking Pepsi colas. He was caring and gentle. He was joyous and had a sense of humor and laugh that would bring life to any dry place. He was hilarious. He never complained. He is irreplaceable. He was absolutely awesome! Even upon transitioning, when asked are you ok, he would say, and eventually nod, "IM OK". That was Clem and that was his lifes declaration. He never gave you the impression that he was cheated or dealt a bad hand but instead was an example of living life to the fullest regardless of circumstance; for he was above his circumstance. That alone, we will always remember. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Flossie and Annie and brothers, Floyd and David. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Secar Reels (Havana) of North River; a faithful, devoted, caring, gentle caregiver and niece, Judy Murray and her husband Terry of the home; sister in laws, Odessa Reels of Merrimon; and Margo Reels of Beaufort; aunt, Dora Prichard of Adams Creek; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; and a special friend and devoted caregiver, Tammy Murrell.
