Clifton 'Cliff' Roy Newell Sr.

Cliff "Red Dog" Newell Sr., 58, of South River, crossed over to Heaven Thursday, June 1, 2017 at his home. His wife held him during his time of crossing. Mr. Newell was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Beaufort and was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps. Cliff and his wife, Debbie were known as the crab pot builders of South River. The family will celebrate his life privately. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Newell; two daughters, Christy Poisal; Tosha Newell; son, Clifton Newell Jr.; stepson, William Brandon Range; step grandson, Brayden Hunter Range; also surviving are numerous grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon Newell, Nancy Cox, Deborah Montgomery, and Kaye Wyman; brother, Mark Newell; and brother-in-law, Gary Cannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Frances Newell; son, Queston Newell; sister, Darlene Newell; and brother, Billy Newell.
