Connie Jean Gaskill

January 11, 1947 — July 9, 2020

Obituary Connie Jean Gaskill was born on January 11th of 1947 in the little town of Portland, Arkansas. Her parents Coleman and Bernice Matthews made sure to teach her and her siblings Pete and Barbara the value of a dollar and how to put in a good days work. Their values were those of a true southern household - be respectful, mind your manners, sweeten your tea, and listen to mama. Connie loved her family and her Arkansas dearly. Moving to a little island on the coast of North Carolina with her kids Kim and Jeff never changed that. Youd think moving that far from home would be scary, but not for her. She was blessed with a God given talent. She was a person who never met a stranger and she could and would strike up a conversation with anyone whod lend an ear. That social grace gained her a sizable Harkers Island family of many friends who loved her. The only thing she could grow faster than a new friend was a flower. She was blessed with two green thumbs and often used them to grow the most beautiful flowers youll ever see. She treated her plants the way she treated her friends - with gentle love and care. Throughout her years on the Island, her family and flowers continued to grow. From a granddaughter named Brooke to the love of her life in Snowball Gaskill, her happiness flourished. Even in her last years, she was blessed with a great grandson Jimmy - he always enjoyed sneaking a peak at his Mimi who would blow a kiss and smile back. There were sad times as well. She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Pete, and her Snowball. Now those empty spaces have been filled once again with joy and celebration as they have finally reunited on golden streets for all eternity. It is with certainty that Connie Gaskill got to meet her Lord in person on July 9th 2020 at approximately 6:10pm surrounded by her family and friends. No doubt she is currently tending that Heavenly garden and once again growing the most beautiful flowers that God has ever seen - patiently awaiting the day she will see the rest of her friends and her dear family again. The family will celebrate her life privately. Condolences and life tributes may be sent to the family at www.noefs.org Arrangements by Noe Funeral Service, Inc. of Beaufort, NC.
