David Leroy Bryant

Obituary David Leroy Bryant, 68, of Beaufort, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern. Mr. Bryant was a Beaufort native and a 1968 graduate of ECHS. He enlisted in the military in 1969; and served his country as a proud and honorable member of the U.S. Coast Guard. While serving, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Antarctica Service Medal. He enjoyed working on cars and was an admirer of classic cars, especially his 1969 Chevy Malibu. After his military service, he earned his degree in Marine Mechanics and certificates in Household Appliance Repair and Human Resources Development at CCC formally known as CTI. He was an awesome son, loving and adored father and ecstatically proud grandfather. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Purvis Chapel AME Zion Church in Beaufort with Rev. Thomas Fryar officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial, with Military Honors, will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Ocean View Cemetery in Beaufort. He is survived by his mother, Magalene Bryant of Beaufort; daughter, Beth Henry of Newport; granddaughter, Ayanna Frazier of Newport; siblings James Irving Bryant Jr. of Beaufort; Christine Bryant of Beaufort, Maggie Mae Mathewson (Oscar) of Fayetteville; Joseph Randolph Bryant of Beaufort, Magalene Bryant of Beaufort; Terry Louise Manuel (Bishop Raynard Manuel Jr.); Debbie Rae Hunt (Phillip) of Morehead City; many aunts; uncles; cousins; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James Irving Bryant Sr; sister, Anne Vernette Anderson; and nephew, Angus M. Bryant Sr. The family will receive friends at other times at 515 Marsh Street in Beaufort. Flowers are welcome.
