Der'eona Zyanae Murrell, 14, of Morehead City, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at ECU Health Center in Greenville.

A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church with a burial to follow. A viewing will be held from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday at the church. A recording of the service will be available on the funeral home website. 

She is survived by her mother, A’shanti Taylor of the home; father, Robert Murrell Sr. of Beaufort; brother, Robert Murrell Jr. of the home; brother, Cayden Taylor of the home; sister, Caylin Taylor of the home; maternal grandparents, Delphine and Bernard Hacker of Beaufort; and several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Effa Murrell and Bobby Felton; maternal grandfather, Sterling Taylor; and special aunt, Tia Murrell.
