Doris 'Dot' Marie Phillips

Obituary On December 15, 2018, Doris Dunn Phillips of Beaufort, went to be with the Lord at the age of 89. Doris life and happiness centered around her selfless honor to family and Christ. A devout Christian, she lived to give to others focusing her life on empathy and compassion. For those that knew her, she was affectionately known as "Aunt Dot" and for being one of the best cooks. She spent over sixty years attending the First Free Will Baptist Church of Beaufort with her family where she enjoyed singing with her father and sisters in the choir. Doris was also active in the community where she served for twenty-five years at the Beaufort Elementary polling station. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 23, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Beaufort. Her funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at 2:00 PM officiated by Pastor Richard Patterson. Burial will follow at Ocean View Cemetery of Beaufort. She is survived by her daughter, Patti J. Ryan; grandson, Paul Gillikin and his wife Megan; granddaughter, Mary Taylor; five great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Mae Lewis; sister, Christine Hill and her husband Ernest; sister-in-law, Nancy Dunn; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins. She will be sorely missed by her great grandchildren that enjoyed visiting her warm home or having her at theirs. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Mary Dunn; husband of fifty-nine years, Ralph L. Phillips; son, David L. Phillips; brother, Anson Dunn and wife Betty of Williston; brother, Julius C. Dunn of Virginia; and brother-in-law, Charlie Clifton Lewis. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Doctor Jamie Crosswell and staff for all the years of care.
