Dorothy Marilyn Mathisen

Obituary Dorothy Marilyn Mathisen, 95, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2022. Born on December 22, 1926, in New York, Dot is survived by her husband of 67 years, Alfred K. Mathisen, son Erik, and daughters Lisa and Kari. No service will be held. Dot met Fred when she was a Fuller Brush representative in Brooklyn, NY. Together, they moved their family to Taiwan in the late 1960s before returning to the U.S. After raising her three children, Dot began her civil servant career with the U.S. Army Picatinny Arsenal military base in New Jersey. Dot and Fred retired to Wilmington, NC, where she enjoyed boating and golf and taught water aerobics. She also volunteered to deliver Meals-on-Wheels for twenty years and traveled throughout the world. She was known for her adventurous spirit, caring nature, sharp wit, and wonderful sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport, NC.
