Emma Staton

Emma Lou Strickland Staton, 77, of Cary, passed March 15, 2016 away after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Josephine Forbush and William N. Strickland. She was born and raised in Durham and attended the Durham City Schools. She was co owner and manager of Total Electric Company of Durham and later worked for the Durham County School Food Service. A Graveside Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday at Bayview Cemetery with Pastor Neal Salter officiating. She was preceded in death by her daughter,Teresa Gail Fowler Emory. She was married to Reverend Jesse C. Staton , Jr. for 33 years. She was an equal partner and constant source of inspiration to him and all who knew her in the nine Pastoral appointments they served in the North Carolina United Methodist Conference together. Surviving in addition to husband, Jesse are two sons, Victor (Bubba) Fowler and wife, Tonie of Hillsborough; Adam Graham Staton and wife, Mary of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Paige Emory McKinstry , Ellie, Davis, and Ian Staton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Chestnut Ridge Special Populations Camper Program, 4300 Camp Chestnut Ridge Rd. Efland, NC 27243.
