Obituary Gene Curtis Kamplain, Sr., 81, of Gloucester, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan 29, at Grace Holiness Church, Harkers Island. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Straits United Methodist Church Cemetery, Straits. He was a 22-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 in 1977. He retired from Civil Service in 2001 as an Operations Analyst. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor Joyce Willis Kamplain; daughter Cheryl Kamplain Fulcher and husband Grady, Harkers Island; son Gene Curtis Kamplain Jr. and wife Sherri, Roanoke, Va; and daughter Carolyn Kamplain Tilghman and husband Jason, Union, SC; grandchildren Grady W. "Trey" Fulcher III, John Curtis Fulcher, Eleanor Ruth Fulcher, Ashley Morgan Kamplain, Reagan Elizabeth Tilghman and Willis Andrew Tilghman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan 28, at the church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Ivan and Mae Barron Kamplain, and brother Earl Kamplain, all of Birmingham, Alabama.
