George Ryan Morris

George Ryan Morris, 55, residing in Hubert, NC passed away unexpectedly at his home from a stroke on Friday, November 13, 2015. George was born March 17, 1960 in Wilson, NC, the son of Sue Wooten Edmundson of Beaufort, NC and the late Alonzo L. Morris of Wilson, NC. He was a graduate of Ralph L Fike High School in Wilson, NC, and he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from East Carolina University. After graduating from college, George joined the Army and attended Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia. He graduated from OCS as a 2nd Lieutenant, then graduated from the United States Army Aviation Center in Fort Rucker, Alabama. George spent his Army Aviation Career in Fort Hood, Texas where he earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After leaving the Army with an honorable discharge, George spent the rest of his career in sales. George was truly one of a kind. 'He had a laugh like no other, and his smile was contagious.' He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed playing golf every chance he got. What he loved most was spending time with his beloved son, Gray. 'We may not understand why God chose to have him leave this earth so soon, or why he had to leave before we were ready to say goodbye , but little by little, we will begin to remember not just that he died, but that he lived . And that his life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. We will see him again someday, in a heavenly place where there is no parting. A place where there are no words that mean goodbye.' George is loved and will be missed by many. George is survived by his son, Gray Bradley Morris of Pine Knoll Shores; mother, Sue Wooten Edmundson of Beaufort, NC; sister Sue Morris Davis and husband, Tim of Beaufort, NC, and niece, Erica Ryan Morris of Beaufort, NC. He was preceded in death by his father, Alonzo L. Morris of Wilson, NC, and his maternal grandparents, Dr. And Mrs. George A. Wooten of Snow Hill, NC. A private memorial is being planned.
