Obituary Gloria 'Gaye' Fulcher, 53, of Bettie, passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 5, 2021. A funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at Woodville Baptist Church with Rev. Terry D. McInnis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in Woodville Gardens following the service. She was born on March 28, 1968 at Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City to Laurie Moore Willis Sr. and Gloria Lamm Willis. Gaye was the youngest of three siblings. On December 14, 1991, she married the love of her life, Mervin 'Craig' Fulcher. She graduated from East Carteret High School in 1986 and furthered her education at Carteret Community College and Mt. Olive acquiring a degree in Respiratory Therapy and Hospital Management. Gaye started her career at Carteret General Hospital in 1989 as a Respiratory Therapist. Gaye moved into the role as clinical instructor for students at CCC at the bedside. She was a mentor to many therapists working throughout North Carolina. Gaye served as Director of Pulmonary Services for many years, instrumental in bringing many new services to the hospital. Gaye's last role at Carteret Health Care was Director of Organizational Improvement where she was instrumental in improving processes for both patients and CHC staff. Gaye worked closely with teams in the emergency department, surgical services, and inpatient nursing. Gaye was key in facilitating the move of departments and patients into the newly constructed Tower of the hospital. Gaye was a great leader, mentor, but most of all, friend to many throughout her career and is missed daily by her coworkers. Gaye was loved and adored by her family, friends, and all who knew her. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was always available to help anyone in need. She was an avid artist who also loved camping and hunting. Gaye was the rock and cornerstone to her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by those who love her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mervin 'Craig' Fulcher; mother, Gloria Lamm Willis; three children, C.J. Fulcher, Jonathan Willis (Matthew), and Jennifer Moore (Michael); brother, Laurie Moore Willis Jr. (Cathy); grandchild, Hunter Kyle Fulcher; mother-in-law, Windley Gillikin Fulcher; best friend/'sister', Pam Rose; and many extended family. Gaye was preceded in death by her father, Laurie Moore Willis Sr.; her brother, Timothy Wayne Willis; and her father-in-law, Mervin Fulcher.
