Hildred "Buzz" Lee Conway

Hildred “Buzz” Lee Conway, 85, of Beaufort, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Carteret Health Care of Morehead City.

Buzz dedicated over 37 years of service to the Town of Beaufort, where his hard work and commitment left a lasting impact. 

 After retiring, Buzz enjoyed spending his time working on lawn mowers, a hobby that brought him both satisfaction and purpose. He was also known to work a few plumbing jobs to help his friends out.

 Buzz was a member of Maranatha Church of Beaufort. 

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at Maranatha Church of Beaufort with Merle Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Oceanview Cemetery in Beaufort. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the church.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Conway of Beaufort; son, Lee Conway of Beaufort; daughter, Debra Godwin of Beaufort; grandson, David Lee Godwin Jr. of Beaufort; grandson, Steven Conway of Beaufort; grandson, Lucas Conway of Beaufort; granddaughter, Faith Conway of Beaufort; three sisters, Eula Mitchell of Beaufort; Ann LaChance of Beaufort; Carol Mitchell of Havelock; two nieces, Joyce Vinston of Beaufort; Kim LaChance of Beaufort.

 Preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Geneva Conway; and his four brothers.
