Obituary Thelma Jane 'Jane' Moon Nelson, 80, of Morehead City, died, Monday, October 4, 2021, at Crystal Coast Hospice House. A memorial service, via zoom, is planned for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16th, 2021, to be conducted by Mike Tokay, formerly of Morehead City, NC. A private interment will be held at the Community Cemetery in Atlantic, NC. Please see the login information at the bottom of the obituary. Jane was born on December 31, 1940, at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, in Portsmouth, VA, to Joseph C. Moon, of Columbus, GA, and Doris Salter Moon, of Atlantic, NC. She spent her early life between Macon and Columbus, GA, before marrying Allen F. Nelson, of Atlantic, NC, on January 6, 1957. Over the next 10 years Allen's service in the Coast Guard took them to Wilmington, NC, Elizabeth City, NC, and, finally, to Washington, DC. As Allen transitioned to a civilian career with RCA Corporation, Jane entered the workforce as an in-home health aide. After a work transfer, for Allen, took them to Cherry Hill, and Princeton, NJ, they returned to Smyrna, NC, where Jane resumed and then furthered her career, earning the certification of CNA. She continued in this field as they finally settled in Morehead City, NC, where they have lived for the last 27 years. While living in Washington, DC, they began studying with Jehovahs Witnesses and were baptized on December 11th, 1965. Later, Jane began serving in the full-time ministry of Jehovahs Witnesses, first in New Jersey, and then in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Charles Keith Moon of Sea Level, NC; and her sons, Allen Nelson III, and Mark Nelson, both of Morehead City, NC. In addition to her husband, Allen, she is survived by her sister, Mary Jo Quinn and her husband David, of Newport, NC; her daughter, Christie Daniel and her husband Doug, of Waldorf, MD; her son Stephen Nelson and his wife Kim, of Wilmington, DE; her son, Dale Nelson and his girlfriend Telena Willis, of Salter Path, NC; and her son, Jonathan Nelson and his wife Page, of Morehead City, NC. She is survived by ten grandchildren: Tanya Snyder and her husband Mark; Jeremy Nelson; Tyler Nelson; Nigel Daniel and his wife Caren; Allison Bowman and her husband Carl; Jesse Daniel and his girlfriend Mollie McClure; Millicent Boan and her husband Aaron; John Nelson and his fiance Tara Tatum; and Chase Nelson. She is survived by sixteen great-grandchildren: Bentley Snyder; Joseph Nelson; Theodore and Clarence Daniel; Tristan, Isobella, and David Bowman; Abel, Amon, Asher, and Ayla Boan; John Patrick "JP" Nelson; Chelsea, Roy, Allen Joseph "AJ" and Allyssa Jeanne Nelson.
