Obituary On a fine spring morning, the 26th of May, Janet "Jan" Virginia Alexander, 90, passed peacefully in slumber in the lovely North Carolina home of her eldest daughter, Karen. Jan will be well remembered for her love of world travel, the Arts, antiquing, entertaining, gardening, sailing and wine! Jan spent her most memorable years in Annapolis, Maryland, where she helped create The East Port Yacht Club and was an active member of Corinthian and the Annapolis Opera Company. She was well known for being a building block in the East Port Historic Committee, the foundation of what is now The Annapolis Maritime Museum. She loved to go sailingand Yard-Saling! Jan created the memorable May Baskets and Christmas decor for the Maryland Inn as well. Her circle of friends was extensive, and the lucky inner circle enjoyed her keen talents as a cook and hostess. By family she will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her fantastic artistic birthday cakes and phenomenal Christmas wrappings! Upon moving to NC, Jan continued her enjoyment of antiquing, local activities, and also joined the Scottish Club to continue her increasing interest in Genealogy. She created a colorful floral garden in her new home in New Bern, NC and enjoyed the occasional glass of wine with her new friends and neighbors there. Jan was surrounded by friends and family in her remaining months and is survived by her two daughters, Karen E. A. Riemer and Alicia D. Alexander; her four grandchildren, Ian Alexander Armiger, Beatina E. Theopold, Jessica Theopold, Clark Duncan Riemer; as well as one great-grandchild, Duncan A. Riemer.
