Jeanette C. Covington

Jeanette Whitehurst Covington, 80, of New Bern, a native of Straits, passed away Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Mrs. Covington was a member of the Straits United Methodist Church where she was active in the Choir. After moving to New Bern, she became a member of the Riverdale United Methodist Church. She had a deep love for family and enjoyed music, playing the piano, knitting, and reading. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 11:00AM at Riverdale United Methodist Church in New Bern, NC with Pastor Rusty Willis officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Straits United Methodist Church Cemetery in Straits, NC. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Jacobs of Dickson, TN; Lynn Miller and husband, Brad of Houston, TX; son, John Covington of Galveston, TX; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Steven, Megan, Rich, David, and Bailey; two brothers, Gerald Whitehurst Jr. and wife, Bea of Kenley, NC; Roger Whitehurst and wife, Iona of Straits. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Mae Whitehurst and brother, Bardin Whitehurst.
