Obituary John (Buddy Boy) Raleigh Anderson, 85, of Beaufort, was born on May 29, 1936 and departed this life on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Bridgeway Church in Beaufort, with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Fryar officiating. Interment will be in Oceanview Cemetery. John Raleigh Anderson was the son of the late Jessie Lee Anderson and Velvo Thigpen. His two sisters Dessie Mable and Evonne Dixon preceded him in death. He has four brothers, James T. Anderson (Sarah) of Greenville, NC, Franklin Andrews (Shanya) of Greenville, NC, Melvin Bryant (Ivanola) of Riverside, CA, and Donald Anderson (Jean) of Grifton, NC; and one sister, Connie Short (Terry) of Simpson, NC. He was married to Dora Bell Anderson for 53 years. They had three daughters and two sons: Sonya Henry of Beaufort, NC, Cynthia Oden (William) of Morehead City, NC, Julianna Henry of Beaufort, NC, David Lee Sharpe (Jacqueline) of Lake Charles, LA, and James Derrick Henry (Westeria) of Chattanooga, TN; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He joined Purvis Chapel AME Zion Church at an early age, where he served as an usher. He attended church regularly until his health failed. John worked at the old shipyard in Morehead City for a number of years. He then worked at Conners Mobile Homes in Newport until it closed. John retired from Atlantic Veneer at the age of 65.
