Johnny Tootle

Johnny Tootle, 68 of Newport, NC, passed away Sunday December 24, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Faith Tabernacle of Praise of Beaufort with Bishop Donald Crooms officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt.Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Faith Tabernacle of Praise.

Johnny was born to the late Theodore and Lelia Faye Tootle on October 27, 1955. He retired after over 40 years as owner and operator of Johnny Tootle Concrete Organization. Johnny played the guitar for many churches in the community and was a member of Son’s of Faith and The Gospel Soul Seekers gospel groups.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Minister Diana Tootle of Beaufort, NC, His four children, Bridgette Henry (George) of Greensboro, NC, Nutouria Tootle Montford (Elisha) of Newport, NC, Johnny Tootle Jr of Texas, and Jonathan Tootle of Virginia. 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one God Son, Three sisters, Beverly Anderson (Danny) of Havelock NC, Keisha Shamori (Rahim) of Jacksonville, NC and Alison Barber of Fayetteville, NC. Three brothers, Wilford Tootle of Texas, Kimmie Tootle of Swansboro NC and Jerome Barber of Fayetteville and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore Tootle and Lelia Faye Tootle
