Lester Paul Small

Lester Paul Small, 71, of Harlowe, passed away Sunday August 28, 2016 at his home. Mr. Small was a lifelong member of Harlowe United Methodist Church where he remained a very active member until his illness would no longer permit. He was a founding member of the Harlowe Volunteer Fire Department. He was also very active with the Havelock Little League. He retired as a Supply Systems Analyst after 32 years of service aboard Cherry Point. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday September 2, 2016 at Harlowe United Methodist Church with Pastor Gina Barrow and Pastor Jim Marshburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Harlowe United Methodist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Wooten Small of Harlowe; son, Travis Small of Harlowe; daughter, Paula Small Sadler and husband Jeffrey of Beaufort; five grandchildren, Cassandra Gillikin and husband, Levi of Beaufort; Samantha Small of Wilmington; Matthew Richardson of Harlowe; Isabella Small of Harlowe; Kyle Sadler of Atlantic Beach; his twin sister, Esther Ford and husband, Ken of Havelock; two brothers, Gene Small and wife, Clara of Harlowe; Billy Small and wife, Rhonda of Harlowe; sister-in-law, Annette Small of Harlowe; he is also survived by a special nephew and caregiver, Kevin Small of Harlowe. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Small; three brothers: Donald "Mole" Small, Marvin Small, Carroll Small. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Church.
