Margaret Marie Murrell Crooms

Margaret Marie Murrell Crooms, 94, of North River, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Pruitt Health Crystal Coast.

Mrs. Margaret was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church where she was a devoted usher, choir member and Mother of the Church. She served in the community until her health failed. Mrs. Margaret loved everyone and everyone loved Mrs. Margaret.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort. A viewing will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

She is survived by her son, James Monroe Murrell of North River, daughter, Carol Lockett of Beaufort; son, Charlie James Crooms (Nellie) of North River; daughter, Judy Reels of North River; daughter, Helena Murry of Beaufort; son, McClure M. Crooms (Janice) of Leland, NC; grandchildren; Junior Wilson, Prometheus Wilson, Charlie Jr. Crooms, Lovet Keith Crooms, Tabitha Crooms, Jasmine Harris (Wayne), Audra Murrell, Tekia Jarman, Edward Jerod Reels, Veta Reels, Eddie D. Murrell, Danay R. Murrell (Nakeya); Christopher Taylor, Kizzie Taylor, Timothy, Calvin Crooms (Keishawna); Patera Crooms; 25 great grandchildren;10 great great grandchildren; brother, Artis Benders (Rita) of North River; sister, Jeannette Walkes of Leavenworth, KS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Hattie Murrell, husband, Alvin Crooms; daughter, Lavonne Blount; son, Oliver Taylor; son, Alvin Taylor Jr.; granddaughter, Dena Reels; grandson, Terence Crooms; five sisters, Ovella Murrell Felton, Minnie Murrell Suggs, Dorothy Mae Murrell, Hattie Bell Murrell Reels, and Alice Reels; seven brothers, Alexander Murrell Elliott, Corlett Murrell, James Howard Smith, Leo Murrell, Ezekiel Murrell, Odell Benders, and Elihue Murrell.
