Margaret R. Husni

Obituary Margaret Robertson Husni 89, of Emerald Isle, NC died May 29 2018 Margaret was born April 6, 1929 in Cambridge, NY to Andrew Woods Robertson and Dorothy (Beach) Robertson. She is predeceased in death by her parents and her three siblings, Elizabeth Ridler, Katherine Ludwick, and James Robertson. During WW II Margaret was a member of the civil defense as an air spotter. After graduating from Cambridge Union School in 1946, Margaret attended Syracuse University where she met her husband to be, Saleem (Sam) Y. Husni. They were married September 11, 1948. Margaret was a stay at home mother for many years dedicating her time to her five children, husband, and volunteer work. She[ps1] was active with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTA, school volunteer, Red Cross, Cancer Society, and EMT volunteer with the Mendham, NJ fire department. She went back to school and became an early childhood educator. She taught school until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and her animals, especially her cats. Upon retiring in 1998 they moved from Mendham, NJ to Emerald Isle, NC, their favorite place for vacations. Margarets days were spent collecting shells on the beach while Sam fished off the surf, and hours of reading. The children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would often visit. After Sams death in 2003 she lived by herself for a few years spending her time reading and doing volunteer work with the Coastal Federation. After a few years of living by herself, Margaret asked her oldest grandson, Leo C. Schmidt to move in with her. Leo and his wife Carrie were Margarets caregivers for several years until her death,[ps2] allowing her to stay in her home. Margaret died peaceably at home with family members at her side. Margarets family included five children, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, their spouses, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Children: Pamela (Leo W. Schmidt, Jr.) Schmidt, Leigh Husni, Cindy (Lyle Selzler) Selzler, Rene (the late Joe D. Lindsey) Lindsey, Michael (the late Valorie J. Maddox) Husni Grandchildren: Leo C (Carrie Cagle) Schmidt, Sean S. (Sherry D. Hilbert) Schmidt, Preston Burford, Allison Burford, Carey Selzler Mitchell. Great Grandchildren: Shannon Schmidt (William Stoughton) Stoughton, Cassaundra Schmidt (Andrew Macklin) Macklin, Sean S. Schmidt, II, Alexis Schmidt (Bhavin Pandya) Pandya, Shania Schmidt (Cole Lamb) Lamb, Hunter Mitchell, Carley Mitchell, Meagan Mitchell, Shane Schmidt Great Great Grandchildren: Annelise Harris, Faith Stoughton, Vickram Pandya, Grace Stoughton, Paislee Schmidt, Eliza Macklin, with three more expected this year. Margaret has many nieces and nephews that loved her. Per her request she will be cremated without a funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emerald Isle Rescue Squad in NC.
