Mark Joseph Francis Sr.

Mark Joseph Francis Sr, 40, of Newport passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home in Newport. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Salty Shores Campground with Waylon Bell officiating. Mark was born in Cranston, RI and moved to Kiowa, CO at the age of 2. He then moved to Newport, NC at the age of 9. Mark was a well-known Master Carpenter and had an eye for great detail. He could go outside with no blue prints, a hammer, and board, and build a castle. He started "working" on the job site with his father George at the age of 4. Mark was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. His two sons were the apple of his eye. Mark had a great sense of humor, a "belly laugh", and a smile that would light up the world. Mark is survived by his wife, Jennifer Harrelson of Newport; two sons of the home, Mark Francis Jr (Piggy) and George Joseph Francis II (Butter Bean); sister, Betty Jo Weatherington and husband Tony of Newport; two nieces, Heather Pasteur (Wheat) and Haley Weatherington (Haley Bug) also of Newport; and his furry companion, Bruno. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bonnie Francis; maternal grandparents, Plymouth and Betty Gibble; paternal grandparents, George and Dora Francis; father-in-law, Robert Harrelson.
