Marvin R. Lewis Jr.

Marvin R. Lewis Jr., 68, of Beaufort, passed away Sunday July 17, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Mr. Lewis worked as a pilot on the menhaden boats for over 40 years in Beaufort. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the US Army, a member of the Beaufort Jaycees for over 20 years, and a volunteer with the Beaufort Fire Department for over 30 years. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Bridgeway Church of Beaufort with Pastors Jim Elmore and Ben Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Oceanview cemetery with military honors. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margaret Merrill Lewis of Beaufort; four daughters, Pamela E. Smith of Portsmouth, VA and fianc, Eva; Tracy S. Lawrence and husband, Richard of Otway; Kimberly S. Lawrence and fianc, Sid of Otway; Donna S. Leet and husband, Michael of Kailua, HI; grandchildren, Joshua Smith; Courtney Pittman and husband, Ryan; Gillian Rose and wife, Heather; Matthew Croft; Brooke Lawrence; Ashton Lawrence; Breaden Leet; Ethan Leet; Jocelyn Lawrence; Logynn Call; great granddaughter, Trinity Smith; also surviving are three nieces, Bonnie Smith, Amy Duest, and Cara Hampton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Esther Lewis; sister, Jean Lewis; granddaughter, Samantha Croft. Flowers are welcome or donations may be sent to the Carteret Health Cancer Center, 3500 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00PM Wednesday at the Church.
