Mary 'Virginia' Davis

Obituary Mary Virginia Lovelace Davis was born September 23, 1928, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to John and Lola Lovelace. She graduated from high school at Intercession City, Florida and attended Kingswood College in Tennessee. On December 20, 1947 she married William A. Davis, who preceded her in death in September 1979. They were the parents of two children, William Kevin Davis of Morehead City, NC and Tina Davis Saddler of Port St. Joe Beach, Florida. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Davis Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Wall and Rev. Terry D. McInnis officiating. Burial will follow in the Murphy Cemetery in Davis. She was a member of the Davis Original Free Will Baptist Church serving as Trustee. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir and played the piano for Sunday School. She was active in the Womans Auxiliary. She always said her best role was an encourager! Active in the Eastern Star, she served two terms as Worthy Matron of Beaufort Chapter #128 and was the organist in the local chapter. Active in the Grand Chapter of North Carolina was appointed Grand Representative to Delaware, served as District Deputy Grand Matron and was Assistant Grand Organist. A member of the Grand Choir since 1982, was president and helped on many committees. She served as Chaplain for the Carteret Shrinettes. She was a member of the Carteret Writers and the Carteret Historical Societies. She was also named "Southern Sunshine" a special appointee of Albert Haynes, worth Grand Patron. She actively served as assistant at the Acting Christians Together Serving (ACTS) food pantry of Woodville Baptist Church, Bettie, NC under the North Carolina Food Bank for approximately five years. She also delivered food to some in the community. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to Davis Original Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 74, Davis, NC 28524 will be appreciated and accepted.
