Melvin "Joe Norvey" Morris, 59, of Atlantic, NC passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at The Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Joe was a Commercial Fisherman for over 25 years. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Atlantic United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jimmy Mercer officiating. Mr. Morris is survived by his son, Christian Pittman of Morehead City; grandson, Ryan Spatilson; step-grandson, Michael Chadwick; three brothers, Douglas Morris, wife Candy, of Marshallberg; Bill Morris, wife Lanora, of Davis Shore; James Len Morris, wife Vonnie, of Newport; two sisters; Mary Lee Hamilton, husband Gerry, of Gloucester; Madolyn Carol Ward, husband Charlie, of Havelock; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Norway Morris and Madolyn Lewis; son, Joseph Morris; and sister, Mildred Morris A visitation will take place from 6:00PM 8:00PM on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Atlantic United Methodist Church.
