Merita Eubanks

Merita Lawrence Eubanks, 74, of Marshallberg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Carolina Medical Center in New Bern.

Merita was the cafeteria manager at Smyrna School for 20 years. She loved the children and would never let a child go hungry. In addition to this, she loved to decorate for the holidays, especially Halloween.

Merita loved her five grandchildren and bragged about their accomplishments. She never missed an opportunity to express how proud she was of them. Other than her grandchildren, she loved her Jack Russell, Sissy, like another child. If Merita was going somewhere, so was Sissy.

Merita was well known at the Burger King in Beaufort, as she and her husband, Ivey, would go most evenings. Merita made it known that the workers knew exactly what she wanted and how to cook it. She felt as though she had her own personal chef there.

Merita is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ivey T. Eubanks Jr. of Marshallberg, her sons, Leslie M. Eubanks of the home, Ivey T. Eubanks III (Tina) Eubanks of Marshallberg, Benton M. Eubanks (Katie) of Beaufort, and Nathan P. Eubanks (Catelyn) of Morehead City, as well as her five grandchildren, Mackenzie T. Eubanks, Chance L. Eubanks, Catherine M. Eubanks, Samantha L. Eubanks, and Payton A. Morris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Benton Lawrence; mother, Mary Lawrence; brothers, ET Lawrence and Burleson Lawrence; sister, Diane Guthrie; and her beloved Jack Russell, Sissy.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m on Wednesday, February 21, at Marshallberg Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m on Wednesday, with burial to follow at Through the Woods Cemetery in Marshallberg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Carteret County.
