Patricia B. Finch

March 16, 1946 — June 24, 2023

Obituary Patricia Beers Finch, 77, of Beaufort, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Croatan Ridge Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. The family will privately celebrate Patricia's life, and in keeping with her spirit, lobsters will be enjoyed. She was born in Hartford, CT, and later resided in Groton, CT; Mystic, CT before finally settling in the seaside town of Beaufort, NC. Patricia took great pride in her New England roots and cherished her Irish heritage. She was often seen driving around town with her 'Proud to be Irish' license plate and never missed an opportunity to remind her children to 'wear your green!' on St. Patrick's Day. These and many other loving reminders such as "wear your seatbelt!" "Wear sunscreen" and her last reminder "Be kind, always' were legendary. Patricia was not only known for her love of cooking but also for her talent in making delicious chowders out of any ingredients she could find. She passed on her treasure trove of '50 Chowder Recipes' to her youngest daughter and, with her culinary expertise, rarely needed to consult the book. A dedicated reader, Patricia could always be found with a book in hand and a cup of tea nearby. Her book exchanges with her daughters and annual visits to used bookstores brought her immense joy and will be dearly missed. As a loving and successful working mother, Patricia, alongside her husband of 60 years, Graham, established the Old Mystic Paint & Wallpaper Nook. Although they closed the business after the devastating Hurricane Gloria in 1985, Patricia's resilience shone through. She enrolled in Mohegan Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Accounting before relocating with Graham to the warmer climates of the Carolinas. In her new surroundings, Patricia took on various part-time jobs to stay active and engaged, eventually retiring to pursue her passion for volunteering as a pet foster mom and rescue/adoption advocate in Carteret County. Many animals found their forever homes with the Finches, and Patricia's love for them was reciprocated with equal fervor. Patricia is survived by her husband, Graham; her best friend and 'Tall Sister,' Maryelen Wielock; her children: Mary Louise (Bill), Juliann Finch (Robert), Frederick James; Kathleen (Fred); and her grandchildren: Mallory, Amanda, Graham, Joanna, Richard, and Jackson. Numerous beloved nieces will dearly miss their Auntie but will carry on the Beers women circle. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Rose Beers, her sister Graceanne, and her grandson Stephen. In memory of Patricia, the family kindly requests any donations to be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice. Condolences and life tributes can be sent to the family at www.noefs.net. Arrangements are entrusted to Noe Funeral Service, Inc. of Beaufort, NC.
