Peggy Ann Guthrie

Peggy Ann Davis Guthrie, 78, of Harkers Island, passed away Friday July 29, 2016 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Mrs. Guthrie was the owner and operator of several businesses on Harkers Island to include the movie theater, and Captain's Choice Restaurant. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Harkers Island with Bishop B.L. Marcom officiating. Burial will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Lee Guthrie of Harkers Island; two daughters, Melanie G. Franco and husband, Gerald of Goldsboro; Maria S. Guthrie of Harkers Island; three grandchildren, Caroline M. Franco of Charlotte; Carlos Andrew Franco of Charlotte; Leandra S. Guthrie of Harkers Island; two sisters, Lavina Guthrie of Sandford; Mattie Brooks of Morehead City; brother, Perry Davis of Beaufort; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Thelma Davis; three brothers, Samuel, Don, and Grover Davis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday at the Church.
