Obituary Dorothy 'Penny' Rose, 76, of Morehead City, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4:30 p.m. at Evansdale UMC in Wilson, NC and on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Little Talbot Island State Park in Jacksonville, FL. Penny was born June 26, 1946 to her parents Elaine and Curtis Rogers in Charleston, SC. She grew up in Jacksonville, FL with her brothers and sisters Hal, Brenda, Gail, Danny, and Neil. Penny graduated from Paxon Senior High School before going to work at Southern Bell. She retired as a Manager of Consumer Sales as one of the most creative, successful, and fun leaders with over 25 years of service. She met and married Robert Dan Rose in November of 1979 in Jacksonville, Fl where they lived for several more years before making their way to North Carolina and finally settling in Morehead City, NC for the past 2 years. During that time, she raised their four children Bill, Mark, Jenny, and Becky; was the owner of Livestock Mutual, and served as the Insurance Agent for Professional Insurance Agents of NC. Pennys passion for helping others, especially children, filled her heart. Through the years she was active with Scouting, Girl Scouts, and with Emmaus and Chrysalis walks in FL, KY, and NC. She organized several new youth groups, helped with many church activities including the Clothing Ministry at Evansdale UMC. Penny is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bob Rose, of Morehead City, son, Bill Rose of Matthews, NC, daughters: Jenny Crosby (Matt) of Iron Station, NC, and Becky Rose of Greenville, NC. Eight grandchildren: Austin Houp of Richmond, KY, Alexis Rose of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Zach Rose, Sydney Rose both of Stanley, NC, Jacquelyn Zettner of Davisburg, MI, Ethan Rose of Greenville, NC, Payton Crosby and Hayden Crosby both of Iron Station, NC. She is also survived by three brothers: Hal Rogers (Sandy), Danny Rogers (Linda) and Neal Rogers all of Jacksonville, FL, and a sister, Brenda Yard of Murphy, NC. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Rose, and her two sisters: Jenny Rogers and Gail Coleman. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to Carteret Health (Hospice) or to Evansdale UMC Clothing Ministry.
