Philip 'Phil' Gregory Pearson

August 2, 1954 — September 10, 2015

Philip Gregory "Phil" Pearson, 61, of Emerald Isle, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. Phils Memorial Service and Visitation will be announced at a later date. Phil was born in East Ringwood, Victoria, Australia, August 2, 1954. With his father, mother and brother, he arrived in Raleigh, N. C. in 1969 where he lived most of his adult life. He worked for over 25 years with Exide Electronics in Raleigh. After leaving Exide in 1999, he delivered the News & Observer for 2 years. Half of his route (400 papers on a Sunday) was at the Glennaire Retirement Community in Cary, N. C. He became friends with many of the residents there and loved delivering their paper on a daily basis. He would say to his wife; "if there is a job I would have again, it would be delivering the paper to the people at Glennaire". After her retirement from the City of Raleigh, Phil and Joyce moved to Emerald Isle, N. C. February 2002. Their neighbors were Fred and Susie Miller (who were like father and mother to them). Phil loved to plug for Spanish Mackerel in "King Land" on the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier. He also loved and preferred to throw a Mirror Lure for Speckled Trout off the beach when in season. Another of his joys was throwing the cast net for Shrimp in Bogue Sound (he would throw the net for hours at a time). He was known by many people because he walked 5 miles every day on the beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Joyce Ann Watson Pearson; his children Jason Pearson and wife Tammy of Uriah, Alabama, Justin Pearson of Garner, and Valerie Pearson of Florida. Phil has 5 grandchildren: Samantha, Brianna, Hayle, Ian and Kayle; his father, Ronald Gray Pearson of East Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia, his brothers, David R. Pearson of Lilydale, Victoria, Australia, John B. Pearson of Frankston, Victoria, Australia, Gary I. Pearson of Quinton, VA; his Aunt Joan of East Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia and his Uncle Ken and Aunt Margaret of Rochester, Victoria, Australia. He is preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Beatrice Henderson Pearson. Now "Mum" and her youngest of four boys are together in Heaven with God and Jesus Christ. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport in memory of Philip G. Pearson. Arrangements are by Noe Funeral Service, Inc. of Beaufort. Condolences and life tributes may be sent to the family at www.noefs.org Service Information Family to have services at later date
