Preston Tyrone Lane

Obituary Preston Tyrone Lane, 68, of Beaufort, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at his home. The youngest of four children; he was born in Pitt Co. on October 25, 1949 to the late Eva Mae Lane and Enoch Smith. Preston was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his early years, he served as a U.S. Army Soldier in the Vietnam War. After his stint in the Army, he owned and operated his own lawn service until his health failed him. He was a long-standing member of the Success Masonic Lodge # 298 of Morehead City. A funeral service, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at St. Antioch Missionary Baptist Church on Adams Creek Rd with Bishop Melvin Walker officiating. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Glendora Lane of Havelock; his children, James Moe Matthews of Jamesville, NC; Victor C. Steward of Havelock, NC; Derick T. Lane (Faythe) of Havelock, NC; stepdaughter, Karen (Anthony) Woodfolk of Havelock, NC; three sisters, Ethel Smith; and Eva Mae Smith both of New Haven, CT; and Julia Fleming (deceased); 13 grandchildren, Tameca Sutton; TyeAsia Sutton; Takerian Harper; TaQuan Huterson; Daija Gulliory; Victor Steward Jr.; Nevaeh Steward; Anthony Mincey; Derick Lane II; Derell Lane; Kendra Woodfolk; Moriah Woodfolk; Amaris Woodfolk; three great grandchildren, Levious Sutton; Levious Dixon; Zhnas Harris; and a host of nieces; cousins; and friends.
