Richard Franklin Newman III

Richard Franklin Newman III, 58, of Newport, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Novant Health in Wilmington.

Richard worked for the Town of Beaufort for over 18 years and worked the last 12 years at the Newport Handy Mart. In his spare time he loved playing pool.

The family will celebrate his life privately.

He is survived by his wife, Loyce Newman of Newport; granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Gilberg of Newport; grandson, George Henry Gilberg of Havelock; sister, Jean Newman of Beaufort; two nephews, Robert Newman of Portland, OR; Antonio Newman of Morehead City; his two cats, Patches and Munchkin and his dog, BoBo; several cousins and several close friends he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dicky” Newman and his mother, Jo Ann Pickett.
