Robert 'Bobby' Mitchell Taylor

November 8, 1949 — January 1, 2021

Obituary Robert "Bobby" Mitchell Taylor, 71, of Straits, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. At age 22, Bobby was saved, became a devout Christian, and attended Grace Holiness Church on Harkers Island. He had careers as a commercial fisherman, boat builder, and eventually retired as a composite worker from Cherry Point. Many would describe Bobby as hyper and going all the time, but also as a hard worker. He sometimes had a brassy tone, but was big hearted and wasnt afraid to cry. He taught himself how to play the guitar at a young age and enjoyed playing at church. Bobby could easily be found sitting in the yard, watching the chickens, making numerous, daily trips to Harkers Island, or socializing with friends at Seaside. Above all else, he was a good husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. He loved his family, especially his "grand youngins", and they loved him. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Grace Holiness Church with Pastor Curtis Going officiating. Burial will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be required. For those unable to attend the service will be live-streamed on the Noe Funeral Service Facebook page or by clicking on this link: https://fb.me/e/372EdCoK1 Bobby is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jennifer Taylor; daughters, Rebecca Gillikin and her husband Jon of Straits, Jo Matthis and her husband Brian of Beaufort; grandchildren, Kayla Gillikin of New Bern, Brian "BJ" Matthis and his wife Brittney of Gloucester; sisters, Suzette Guthrie and her husband Larry of Harkers Island, Judy Simmons and her husband Robert of Newport, Debra Rose and her husband Manley of Harkers Island; aunts, Grace Willis of Harkers Island, Sue Gaskill of Stacy; uncle, Joe Taylor of Davis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his beloved cat, Sally.
