Robert Deleno Taylor

Obituary On October 29, 2018, Robert Delano Taylor known as "Lazz", 85, of Newport, passed on to meet our Lord. He was born in Marshallberg on May 20, 1933. He served his country for three years in the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1953. He loved being on the water and worked various jobs during his lifetime. One of his favorite jobs was Captain of the ocean-going tugboat, Rebecca P. He spent most of his career with Poling Brothers Transportation and retired from Express Marine. He was an active member of Marshallberg Baptist Church, serving as usher, church greeter and member of the grounds committee. He always tried to set a good example for his children and serve his Lord. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Marshallberg Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Victoria Cemetery in Marshallberg. He is survived by his wife of 61 year, Ada Lewis Taylor; sons, Robert Kevin Taylor; David Christian and wife Ginny Garner Taylor; step grandson, Thomas McGee; grandsons, David Kevin Taylor; Robert Brandon and wife Georgia Dilks Taylor; great granddaughter, Savannah Grace Taylor; brother, Alvah Taylor and wife Windy; niece, Pamela Taylor; nephews, Wayne Taylor; Jeffrey Taylor; Pastor Weston Earl Taylor; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Gertie Taylor; three infant brothers; brothers, Harold; Weston; and James Michael. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM the day of the funeral at Marshallberg Baptist Church.
