Robert Metz

Obituary Robert Edward Metz, age 80, of Newport, NC, and husband of Joy Metz, passed away peacefully in his home on September 25, 2023. Robert Metz, known as "Bob" or "Bobbie" was born December 23, 1942 in San Diego, CA, and was raised on the Outer Banks of NC. He resided in Fredericksburg, Va, the Florida Keys, and Lakeshore MS before returning to NC in 2019. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Saturday September 30, 2023 at Reece's Chapel Baptist Church 171 Old Winberry Road, Newport, NC. There will be a visitation one hour prior. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Augustus Metz II and Margaret Ann Metz, and his brother Thomas Metz. Bob is survived by his two daughters, Traci Ann Breland and Eva Marie Amos; and his son Adam Augustus Metz III. His Grandchildren are Neil Pierce, Randy Pierce, Zachary Archer, Cody Metz, Kristen Colbath, Eric Carlisle, Leigha Metz, and Marissa Davis. He has six great grandchildren. In his early years he was employed by DOD at Dahlgren, VA. Once he moved to the Florida Keys, he was a construction contractor and built many of the commercial buildings there today. After moving to Mississippi in 1979 he became a commercial fisherman and operated a successful business shipping seafood from Maryland to Florida. He is known by the locals as "Mr. Bob of Bobs Crabs.
