Ross S. Earnest

Ross Sevier Earnest, 64, of Atlantic Beach, died on Jan. 3, 2017, at home. He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Marion, Ohio, to William Randolph Earnest II and Jeanne Ross Earnest. He moved to North Carolina in 1975 and graduated with a bachelors degree from UNC-Wilmington. A longtime resident of Atlantic Beach, he was committed to a wide range of environmental and social justice issues and worked to ensure that the natural beauty of the coastal area remained intact. He is survived by his brother, William "Randy" Earnest and sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his father, William Randolph Earnest II, and his mother, Jeanne Ross Earnest.
