Shirlena E. Davis

Obituary Shirlena E. Davis, 84, of Newport, went Home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 25, 2022 at her home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Noe-Brooks Funeral Home in Morehead City. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the church. She will be laid to rest following the service at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort. Shirlena was born on October 11, 1937 in Morehead City. She was most known for her homemade convenience store that she ran out of her home in North River for many years. Shirlena worked at Pittman Seafood in South River for several years as well as many other occupations. She loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Shirlena was also famous for her sweet potato pie and coconut cake and for always having a crossword puzzle nearby. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be forever missed. She is survived by her daughters, Laurarease Davis of Newport and Shirlena Yvonne Davis of New Bern; her beloved and only sister, Robina Davis of Beaufort; aunt, Dolly Davis of Beaufort; grandchildren, Jimmy D. George of Havelock, Andre Davis of Havelock, Alisha Mewborn (Anthony) of Newport, Pansy Hester (Anthony) of Dupont, WA and Newport, Quandres Godette of Newport, Mecko Davis of Jacksonville, FL, Tyeisha Davis of Raleigh, Lavar Davis of Havelock, Kemia Brooks of Vanceboro, and Jaheim Murray of New Bern; 13 great-grandchildren; and one soon-to-be great-great grandson. Shirlena was preceded in death by her parents, Lillian and Charlie Davis; son, Jimmy Lee Davis; infant daughter, Mary Davis; infant son, James Davis; five sisters; and one brother.
