Shirley Johnson Babcock

June 17, 1922 — January 20, 2018

Shirley Johnson Babcock, 95, of Beaufort, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Pruitt Health of Sea Level. Mrs. Babcock was a life time member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church of Beaufort. She retired after 40 years of teaching with the Carteret County School System. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Paul Episcopal Church of Beaufort with Father Michael Singer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. She is survived by her son, Richard Babcock Jr. and wife, Kay of Beaufort; two granddaughters, Dr. Julia Babcock Hamilton and husband, Steve of Beaufort; Laura Babcock Chapman and husband, Dennis of Raleigh; two great granddaughters, Sarah Anne Hamilton of Apex; Stephanie Ruth Hamilton of Beaufort. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eva (Willis) Johnson; husband, Richard John Babcock Sr.; sister, Merry Palazzo; great grandson, John Steven Hamilton Jr. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall and at other times at the familys home, 195 Wallace Rd. Beaufort. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Carteret Community College Foundation, 3505 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
