Stephen 'Duck' Dudley Jr.

Obituary Stephen 'Duck' Dudley Jr., 85, of Beaufort, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Crystal Coast Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Ocean View Cemetery in Beaufort. The family will receive friends following the service. Duck was born on October 15, 1936 to Stephen and Dollie Dudley in Carteret County. He was born into a family of fishermen with his father, several uncles and Duck himself being very involved in the Menhaden industry in Beaufort. He thoroughly loved fishing, especially shrimping, and enjoyed everything about being on the water. When Duck started a family he went to work for the North Carolina Ports Authority where he spent more than 37 years of service. He held many titles while employed at the Ports Authority with "Yard Foreman" being his favorite. He was responsible for moving train cars around to various port locations for loading and unloading ship cargo. Duck has many friends of different ages and although hes no longer here physically he will never be forgotten. He is survived by his son, Tyndall 'Royce' Dudley and wife Emily of James City; grandson, William 'Tyndall' Dudley and wife Julie of Wilmington; sister, Sarah Daniels of Wilmington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Duck was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Dollie Dudley; son, Stephen Dudley III; three brothers, Matthew, Bruce, and Edwin Dudley; and two sisters, Connie Davis and Iris Carley. The family of Stephen Dudley would like to thank employees, support staff, and volunteers of Carteret Landing and The Crystal Coast Hospice House for their compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail during our difficult time. You have made this part of the journey much easier and we are extremely grateful for all your efforts.
