Steve Metts

Obituary Steve Metts, 79, of Sneads Ferry, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at his home. Steve was a Firefighter for the Charlotte Fire Department for 26 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Sunday school teacher for the New River Community Church, which he had been a member of for 25 years. Steve was a very "easy-going" man, had a great sense of humor, loved by everyone he met, and will be greatly missed. There will be three memorial services to celebrate Steves life. The first will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at New River Church of God with Pastors Steve Allen, James Deluka, and Rick Cannon officiating. The second will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Dawson Cabin Church of God with Pastors, Steve Allen, James Deluka, and Bob Hamilton officiating. A third service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, NC. He is survived by his wife, Jean Metts of 36 years; daughter, Jeanne Moore (Troy); son, Gene Odom (DeAnna); son, Michael Odom (Lynn); son, Ronald Odom (Mimi); daughter, Angela Weyenberg (Andy); 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Willie Metts, as well as his son, Mark Metts. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved his appearing."
