Susan Gillikin Styron, 67, passed away peacefully at ECU Medical Center in Greenville, NC on October 1, 2024. She was known affectionately by all who knew her and friends as Susie Kay. Susie was born on July 10, 1957, in Morehead City, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Maranatha Pentecostal Holiness Church of Beaufort with Pastor Merle Hunt, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery in Harkers Island. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
She lived and resided in Cedar Island, NC until her health limited her abilities and she resided with her sister until her passing in Gloucester. Susie loved anything to do with a cell phone and especially Facebook. She enjoyed the various topics and happenings of social media and loved to keep everyone up to date. Susie loved to digitally draw and paint portraits and play solitaire games on her cell phone and computer. Susie’s favorite tv shows were Cheaters and The First 48 series.
She is survived by her Brother Cedric Wayne Gillikin and Wife Kim Gillikin of Maine, Sisters Lina Sandy and husband Ken Sandy of Sanford, Doris Hill of Marshallberg, and Alecia Hunt and husband, Merle Hunt of Gloucester: She was preceded in death by her husband, David Keith Styron. son, Jason Wayne Gillikin. her parents, Noah Gillikin, and Katherine Gillikin. sisters, Ventia Lupton and Patricia “Tee Ann” Moore; and beloved dog Bubba Gump.
She will be deeply missed. Her love for her family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
