He was born November 3, 1939, in Carteret County to the late Theodore and Mary Johnson and his siblings who proceeded him in death: Monroe, Larry, Theodore Jr., Annie Marie, Earlene and Isaiah.
Sylvester was educated in Carteret County school, Beaufort NC. His employment was fishing and pile driving for TD Eure for many years. Later, he worked for Monroe Johnson Construction Company.
Sylvester gave his life to the Lord in 1972. Since that time, he was a bus driver, a deacon of the church, dad, a special worshipper, and praised God with all that was in him. A man of faith and power, a man that would praise God anywhere, anyplace, anytime. Wednesday night he was asked a question: “Sylvester, what are you staring at?” and he said, “I see Jesus.”
By the leading of the Holy Spirit, God spoke through Apostle Murray, that Sylvester and Brenda were to be married. So, they were married in 1976. He always said he thanked God for his wife. He had three children, one daughter: Tina Williams (Tracy) Australia, two sons: Sylvester Lee and Daniel Johnson of Beaufort, two sisters: Katie Johnson (Melvin), Rena Reed of Beaufort NC, and brothers Carnell Johnson, Wardell Johnson (Doris) and Willie Ray (Vivian), all of Beaufort NC.
Eleven Grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four sisters-in-law; Bertha Johnson, Glenda Roy, Sharon Johnson, and Valerie Johnson
One brother-in-law: Ronald Bryant. And a host of nieces and nephews.
