Terry Jennings Hoyt, 71, of Newport, passed away Sunday February 21, 2016 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House of Newport. Mr. Hoyt was a 1962 graduate of Meadville Area Senior High School in Meadville, PA, Journeyman Tool and Die Maker and Engineer. He Retired from Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant in Whitakers, NC. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycling and old cars. He was a master mechanic and man of many talents. He will be remembered for how he enriched the lives of others. Terry is one of the oldest living heart transplant recipients, having a 21 year reign with his heart. In addition, he received a kidney from his daughter, Heather, in 2003. He died of a prolonged illness. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday at New Life Assembly of God Church of Morehead City. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sally Hoyt of Newport; two sons, Shane C Hoyt and wife, Shelly of Hope Mills, NC; Kenneth G. Halsaver III of Meadville, PA; two daughters, Heather D. Hoyt of Mebane, NC; Kimberly A. Halsaver of Raleigh; brother, Gary Hoyt and wife, Lynda of Long Beach, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Mae Hoyt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Life Assembly of God Church, 301 Friendly Rd., Morehead City, NC 28570.
