Theodore 'Ted' Roosevelt White

Obituary Theodore "Ted" "Theo" Roosevelt White, Sr. , 75, entered into the joy of His Lord after living a dedicated service to others on Friday, September 24, 2021. Ted was born in Craven County on November 27, 1945 to the late Havana White Norris and Vernon Norris. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Piney Grove AME Zion Church, located at 1430 Temples Point Rd., Havelock, NC 28532. It will be an outdoor service, we ask all attendees to wear face coverings. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends Friday evening, October 1, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bridgeway Church in Beaufort. Theodore affectionately known to some as "Ted" or "Theo" grew up in Harlowe, and attended Queen Street High School in Beaufort, NC he graduated in 1963. At an early age, Theo confessed religion and joined Piney Grove A.M.E. Zion Church where he was an active member who loved serving and singing in the Carteret Craven Male Chorus and had an appreciation for people and was always willing to serve his fellow man. He retired from Carteret General Hospital and Walmart after 20 plus years of service and he continued working at Kennys Seafood until his passing. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, working on cars, and spending time with family and friends. Theo leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife Egetta White of 39 years; daughters Chandra Alston Southern and husband Michael of Powder Springs, GA, Darlene Hill of Beaufort, NC ; sons Isace Barrette and wife Barbara of Havelock, NC, Bradley Bell and wife Jacqueline of Newport, NC, John Smith of Havelock, NC, Theo White, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Elizabethtown, KY, Tony Simmons and wife Latoya of Beaufort, NC ; 26 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Thaola Burney of Salisbury, NC, Vivian Wooten and husband Larry of Lumberton, NC ; brothers, Vernon Harvey and wife Lisa of Newport, NC, Major Harvey and wife Claudette of Pollocksville, NC; brother-in- laws Clyde Wallace, Terry Wallace, Wendell Murray; sister-in- laws; Havanna Reels and husband Secer, Delphine Hargett; Uncles; Rudolph Jackson and wife Mildred, Jimmy White; Great Aunts; Velma White Morris, Annie White; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Henry James White; and son, Dwayne Keith Wallace. We know Theo is smiling down on us today as we share in his memory.
